Title IX protects individuals of all genders and sexual orientations and applies to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>students<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>faculty<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>staff<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>independent contractors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>campus visitors and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>other participants in university educational programs and activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To ensure compliance with Title IX and other federal and state civil rights laws, the University has designated a Title IX Coordinator to monitor compliance with Title IX and ensure reports of physical, emotional, sexual or gender-based harassment or misconduct are investigated and addressed by the University.<br>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Contact the University\u2019s Title IX Coordinator or the Privileged Campus Advocate if you:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Have questions or concerns about your rights under Title IX<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Believe you or someone you know have been a victim of physical, emotional, sexual or gender-based harassment or misconduct.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-671\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Nine things to Know About Title IX<\/h2><div id=\"ac-671\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It is not&nbsp;only about sports. Title IX is a landmark federal civil right that prohibits discrimination in education.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It does not apply to only females. Title IX protects any person from acts of discrimination, regardless of their gender.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It covers students, employees and guests of EOU.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sex-based discrimination includes sexual harassment, gender-based discrimination, sexual violence and other sexual misconduct.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EOU will immediately take action when any discrimination, sexual harassment or sexual violence is reported.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EOU has a designated person on campus to coordinate and address Title IX violations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EOU has an obligation to investigate any reports of physical, emotional, or sexual misconduct. The behavior makes someone uncomfortable and fearful for them and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Examples of Stalking<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Non-consensual contact with someone using some but not all of the following:<br>Phone calls | Texting | Emails | Unwanted gifts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Repeated visual or close proximity, like waiting outside a building for someone to leave or arrive at the location.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Following someone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Watching someone from a distance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other behavior that tracks, contacts, harass or threatens someone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Persistently sending messages to a person through the internet, such as spamming their email or social media.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Posting threatening or personal information on public internet forums.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installing videos to give access to a persons personal life.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Using GPS or other technology to track a persons whereabouts without their consent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Using someone\u2019s computer or spyware to track a persons activity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This list does not provide all examples of stalking. Coercion is usually in the form of threats to reveal evidence of their sexual activity such as videos, pictures, etc. The predator will threaten to show the pictures to a parent, family member, boyfriend\/girlfriend or someone that is shameful to the victim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ is committed to full adherence to the Title IX law. This apathetic approach sparked much interest and controversy, asking the question if society had reached a new low. This same kind of phenomenon can also happen within organizations when stories or incidents are occurring and employees and team members look the other way for a variety of reasons. Reasons can include rationale such as the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t want to get involved.<br>It isn\u2019t that bad.<br>It does not involve me.<br>Somebody else will report it.<br>It is none of my business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Be an Active Bystander<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>An Active Bystander is one that will recognize a situation is not right and intervenes to help the victim. Intervening comes in a variety of ways to fit your comfort.
