IV Authorizations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Is Title IV?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Title IV refers to the <em>Higher Education Act of 1965<\/em>, which created federal student financial aid programs.<br>At À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ (EOU), federal regulations require your financial aid to be applied <strong>only to current-year institutional charges<\/strong>, unless you give permission to cover additional charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Your Aid Is Applied<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Automatically Covered (Institutional Charges):<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tuition<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Room and board<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Up to $200 in prior-year institutional charges<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Not Automatically Covered (Non-Institutional Charges):<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Library fines<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Parking permits and fines<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Application fee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other incidental charges<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Without authorization, non-institutional charges may remain unpaid\u2014even if you receive a refund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Important:<\/strong> Title IV aid <strong>cannot be used<\/strong> to cover:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Late fees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Penalty fees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Finance charges<br>These cannot be paid with federal aid, even if you authorize it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Give Authorization<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can voluntarily authorize EOU to use your Title IV aid for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Current year non-institutional charges<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prior year non-institutional charges<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To authorize:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Log in to the my.EOU Portal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open the <strong>Financial Aid Self Service<\/strong> menu<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>\u201cTitle IV Authorization\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check both boxes for Current Year and Prior Year Non-Institutional Charges<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Recommendation:<\/strong> Select both options to avoid small, unpaid balances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Types of Title IV Federal Aid<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pell Grants<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Direct Loan Programs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Federal Perkins Loans<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FSEOG (Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>TEACH Grants<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Federal Work Study<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Example Scenario: Without Authorization<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure Student<\/td><td>+$1,916.00<\/td><td>$91.59 owed<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Result:<\/strong><br>Even though the student received a refund of $1,916, they still owed <strong>$91.59<\/strong> due to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$75 for the parking permit (non-institutional)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>$16.59 interest charge (not
