her research questions relate to the evolution of cognitive abilities and whether humans and animals share cognition. She is primarily focused on behavioral flexibility, causal reasoning, and problem-solving skills. She has studied a wide range of animals such as bears, big cats, striped skunks, and horses. His graduate research tested hypotheses<br>related to sexual orientation, but his interests are broadly related to<br>applying principles of natural selection to human psychology. Additional<br>interests include philosophy of mind (consciousness), cognitive and<br>perceptual biases, research methods, and scientific writing. Within these domains, her work explores how uncertainty surrounding one\u2019s social identity, group standing, or group leader affects how people understand themselves as well as how they may view and treat members of opposing groups. Stenson is a cognitive psychologist whose research investigates the affective (emotional) and cognitive processes involved in adaptive decision making under risk. Within these domains, his work investigates the processes related to how individuals flexibly adapt to changing circumstances, particularly in situations that have probabilistic outcomes. Additionally, this work utilizes both behavioral, computational, and neurophysiological approaches to test theories relating to how the brain deals with ever changing environments. While working within the clinical field, she became a specialist working with eating disorders, trauma, and dialectical behavioral&nbsp;therapy (DBT). Her research interests tend to focus on understanding various underserved communities, behavioral medicine, and resiliency.
