I teach and write about social and environmental change from the local to the planetary level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My areas of focus include environmental history, U.S. history, Asian history, global history, Pacific World history, community-based history, Asian American history, commodity history, military history, and the role of American global power in shaping the modern world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Making interdisciplinary connections and incorporating comparative perspectives are core to my practice as a scholar and teacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am currently working on my first book project, tentatively titled American Choices in the Age of Global War and the Making of the Great Acceleration. <\/em>I joined the EOU History Department in fall 2023. (Go Mountaineers!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I am not in the classroom or in the archive, I love to be outside hiking, running, foraging, gardening, or delving into a book beneath a tree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
