Robes, Cords, Sashes, and\/or other Commencement regalia that may be worn in conjunction with a particular program, club, cultural affiliation, etc. or other EOU department is handled through that particular college or club and is not under the purview of the Registrar\u2019s Office \u2013 for questions please contact your program or club representative or adviser.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n


Students may place an order for cap and gown online at <\/span>Jostens<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honor Cords will be sold through the EOU bookstore, for questions regarding whether you qualify for honors at Commencement, please reach out to us at commencement@eou.edu

Gown and Regalia Information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  • EOU BACHELOR (including associate and undergraduate certificates)<\/em><\/span> caps, gowns, and tassels are BLACK.
    <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • EOU MASTER<\/span> gowns are BLACK, plus a HOOD is worn.
    The interior of the hood represents the University colors; EOU’s colors are blue and gold. The velvet trim on the outer edge of the hood represents the degree

    <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The Master gown<\/span> is very different from a bachelor gown, in that the sleeves have large extensions and a hood is carried or worn during the ceremony; typically instead of a graduation cap.<\/em>\n

    • The College of Education encourages Masters students to wear a cap if they so desire.
      <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • EOU Graduate Certificate <\/strong>BLACK gown, cap, and tassel. If a master’s degree has been previously earned a master’s gown is worn. If a Master’s degree has not been previously earned a bachelor’s gown is worn.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      PARTNER PROGRAM UNIVERSITIES:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • Oregon State University<\/span> caps & gowns are BLACK with a MAISE (yellow) tassel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Oregon Health & Science University <\/span>caps & gowns are WHITE with an APRICOT (orange) tassel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        It is highly <\/em>encouraged that you open and steam your gown before the ceremony to remove all wrinkles from the packaging. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

        HONORS CORDS<\/span> will be sold only to those undergraduate students eligible to receive them. The EOU Bookstore will have a list of eligible students. Honors calculations for ceremony purposes are calculated through the Winter term only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Undergraduate<\/strong> Distinctions and GPAs: <\/strong>*Latin Honors are based on your Overall GPA (Including Transfer Work)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        *To be considered for graduation with distinction, an undergraduate student must have a cumulative GPA (including transfer credits, if any) of at least 3.50.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Cum Laude:<\/strong> 3.50-3.69 (White Cord)
        Magna Cum Laude:<\/strong> 3.7-3.84 (Grey Cord)
        Summa Cum Laude:<\/strong> 3.85-4.00 (Gold Cord)
        *Please note – All grade-point averages used for commencement are calculated at the conclusion of the previous winter term. Grade-point averages are recalculated when all coursework is completed and the degree is conferred. If the participant has already graduated, the final GPA will be used.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n
