Karie is passionate about both teaching and teacher preparation in grades K-12. Her current teaching and research interests are technology in STEM education, teaching and learning in probability and statistics, and teaching and learning mathematics in grades K-6. She has several publications at the national level, and has presented her scholarly research both nationally and internationally. Her interest in these areas stems from her work from 2006-2018 as a mathematics teacher at Colton High School in Colton, Oregon, along with time spent during her PhD program partnering with elementary teachers to implement inquiry-based mathematics tasks. In her free time, Karie enjoys traveling, cooking, reading mystery novels, and playing board games with family and friends.
