The MOVE lab is looking for dedicated students who are passionate about health and fitness to assist the lab with community outreach programs and undergraduate student projects. As a lab assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the faculty supervisor and working closely with the MOVE lab Intern. This position offers practical experience in fitness programming, project development, interdisciplinary collaborations, and the promotion of positive health outcomes and sport performance. Experiential Learning:<\/strong><\/td>Students working in the MOVE lab engage in experiential learning opportunities that bridge classroom concepts with real-world applications. Scientific principles related to human anatomy, exercise physiology, movement mechanics and control, and health assessment and evaluation are all integrated into practical skill development for effective program\/project development. Students will learn how to use and maintain lab equipment, run required software programs and apps, participate in scientific inquiry, perform health and fitness assessments, and engage with community members.\u00a0<\/td><\/tr>
Professional Development:<\/strong><\/td>This position offers students a chance to work in a hands-on and dynamic environment with variety of professional development opportunities. Students will learn how to work effectively in both independent and team dynamics, create and lead exercise sessions, provide education in wellness practices and positive health outcomes, manage groups and track participation, and communicate with diverse groups of people to prepare them for future careers fitness, performance, and many allied healthcare related fields (PT, OT, ATC, etc.). You\u2019ll receive job-specific training in fitness testing and assessment, related equipment and analysis programs, and generate reports. Additionally, you\u2019ll participate in EOU\u2019s Spring Symposium and other events. The skills and experiences gained through this role will significantly enhance your employability and readiness for the workforce.<\/td><\/tr>
Summary of Job Duties\/Responsibilities\/Essential Functions:<\/a><\/strong><\/td>– Support the MOVE lab faculty supervisor with community program development and administration
– Assist the MOVE lab intern with student projects and activity coordination
– Work directly with the EOU and La Grande community members
– Provide fitness assessments
– Operate and maintain lab equipment
– Become proficient with common computer skills
– Learn required software programs and performance apps<\/td><\/tr>
Minimum Qualifications:<\/strong><\/td>– Must be an EOU student currently enrolled in good academic standing with a GPA of 2.0 or higher
– Must have junior or senior standing
– Passing a background check pending employment offer<\/td><\/tr>
Preferred Qualifications<\/strong>:<\/td>– Health and Human Performance major or Pre-Professional Pathway
– Experience with exercise and training.<\/td><\/tr>
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities<\/strong>:<\/td>– Strong interest in health, wellness, and fitness
– Excellent interpersonal skills when working with colleagues and the public
– Ability to work independently
– Knowledge of (or the desire to learn) human anatomy, physiology, and fitness training
