You will prepare a variety of coffee drinks, maintain a clean and organized workspace, and ensure customer satisfaction. With flexible hours that fit around your academic schedule, this position offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment while interacting with a diverse range of customers.
Experiential Leaning:	As a Barista at the Library Coffee Lounge, you will gain practical experience in customer service, sales, and inventory management. You will learn how to prepare and serve coffee and other beverages according to standard recipes, operate a cash register, and handle cash accurately. This role offers an excellent opportunity to apply business operation knowledge in a real-world setting, enhancing your understanding of food and beverage service industry standards.
Professional Development:	This position offers numerous professional development opportunities. You will receive job-specific training provided by the Library and participate in University-wide training events. Additionally, you will have access to sponsored training activities, career exploration activities via Career Services, and resume reviews with Career Services and/or WorkSource Oregon. These experiences will help you build professional competencies such as customer service, time management, multitasking, and interpersonal communication, preparing you for diverse career paths.
Summary of Job Duties/Responsibilities/Essential Functions:	– Prepare and serve coffee and other beverages according to standard recipes. – Greet customers, take orders, and process payments. – Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee lounge, including cleaning equipment and seating areas. – Manage inventory of coffee supplies and products. – Ensure customer satisfaction by providing excellent service and responding to inquiries or complaints.
Minimum Qualifications:	– Current or following term undergraduate enrollment of at least 6 credits or graduate enrollment of 9 credits. – Must be in good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher). – Able to work mornings.
Preferred Qualifications:	– Food Handler’s Card. – Customer service or barista experience.
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:	– Knowledge of basic coffee drink preparation. – Ability to operate a cash register and handle cash accurately. – Strong interpersonal and communication skills. – Capacity to work efficiently under busy conditions.
